Sarah began her musical journey as a clarinetist in elementary school, and throughout high school and college, she expanded her proficiency to include the saxophone, violin, and percussion. Over the course of her career, she has had the privilege of learning from, performing under, and collaborating with many respected figures in the field of music education, including Dr. Keith Preston, Michael Sullivan, Dr. Stephen Hemphill, Dr. Rick McEnaney, Dan Smithiger, Sharon Woodard, Ed Protzman, and Jason Bull. These distinguished mentors and collaborators have profoundly shaped her teaching career. With 24 years of experience instructing marching bands and indoor percussion ensembles across Arizona, Kansas, and Idaho, Sarah has continuously built upon the lessons and insights gained from these influential figures in the field.

In Arizona, Sarah, alongside her husband Jason, co-founded Centennial Indoor Percussion Theater, a scholastic indoor drumline that performed for two successful seasons. After relocating to Idaho, she served as Assistant Director and Administrator for Troopercussion Indoor for three years before co-founding North Star Independent in 2017, where she has served as Co-Director since. Under her leadership, North Star Independent earned a bronze medal in the Independent A division at the 2023 WGI World Championships. 

Sarah is deeply committed to advancing music education and the marching arts, particularly in Southeast Idaho. To further this mission, she has served on the Board of Directors for Snake River Youth Performing Arts since its inception in 2017. She also serves as President of the Board for the Intermountain Percussion Association in Utah, having been an active member since 2014.

In addition to her extensive background in music education, Sarah is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Secondary Education, with plans to complete the program in January 2025. Sarah is also a proud mother of three children and two dogs, balancing her academic and professional endeavors with a fulfilling family life. In her personal time, Sarah enjoys exploring her family history, playing games, and spending quality time with her loved ones. These hobbies provide a creative and meaningful balance to her busy life.
