Sean Mullarkey
Battery Instructor
Sean Mullarkey is a percussion instructor based in the Treasure Valley. With over a decade of performance and teaching experience, Sean is excited to cultivate the growth of percussion education in the state of Idaho.
While pursuing his degree, Sean had the privilege to participate in various collegiate marching ensembles. In 2016, he attended the University of Idaho, where he was a member of the Vandal Marching Band. He then transferred to Boise State University, where he was a member of the Blue Thunder Marching Band from 2017 to 2019, where he served as a Battery and Snare Section leader in his final year. Sean then graduated with a bachelor's degree in Computer Science in the spring of 2021.
Being heavily influenced by his experiences in various WGI and DCI ensembles, Sean remains an active contributor in the arts, both as a member and educator. In 2019, Sean participated as a battery section leader at Rhythm Armada, a WGI ensemble based out of Boise, Idaho. He then went on to march the snare ensemble at the Battalion Drum and Bugle Corps in 2019 during their record breaking season. In 2021, Sean returned to Rhythm Armada as the Battery Caption Head and Arranger, which he helped lead the group to their highest scoring season in 2022.
After his career as a performer in the marching arts, Sean has taught at multiple high school percussion ensembles. In 2019, Sean returned to his Alma Mater at Rocky Mountain High School, where he taught as the Percussion Director from 2019 to 2021. In his three years with the program, Rocky Mountain High School won back to back best percussion awards, breaking a school record by scoring over 90 for the first time, and finishing his last year with the ensemble in 3rd place overall with their program "Machine". He has also taught at Mountain View High School's indoor program in 2020, where he helped bring the program to second place overall in the TVIA circuit.
Sean is currently employed at Micron Technologies as a Software Engineer working in pattern recognition. When he is away from his cubicle, Sean remains involved in the marching arts. He is currently working with Eagle high school as an general percussion instructor while offering private lessons to multiple students.
Sean has had the pleasure of being taught by many influential educators in his marching career including Pat Flaherty, Spencer Martin, James Harrison, Joe Tornello, Ryan Hall, Alex Entin, Michael Williams, Nicholas Jackson, Tony Teleky, and Roger Carter.
