Shelbie Jenkins Romriell

Front Ensemble Instructor

Shelbie grew up in a musical family in Southeast Idaho and participated in various band ensembles through middle and high school. This included concert band, wind ensemble, marching and pep band, jazz band, pit orchestra, etc on clarinet, saxophone, and concert/auxiliary/mallet percussion. She also participated in Troopercussion Indoor for 2 years on vibraphone while in high school.

Shelbie formally pursued a degree in music education from ISU, with clarinet as her main focus instrument, and graduated in 2023. During her time there she continued to participate in ensembles on clarinet, saxophone, and percussion. This included participating on mallet percussion for the recording ensembles of two new compositions. She also enjoyed her last 2 seasons marching indoor percussion with North Star Independent, one season on marimba and one on vibraphone, finishing off her eligible marching years with them.

Shelbie joined North Star Independent's instructional staff beginning Fall of 2021. She feels truly privileged to learn from and rub shoulders with the staff and participants there year by year.

Currently, Shelbie is a mom of two with a third due in December 2026. She is formally a substitute teacher but still enjoys participating occasionally in the music world as opportunity permits through performing, teaching, and collaborating with fellow musicians and composer friends.
